If ever there were a match made in heaven...

Tim Burton, Alice in Wonderland and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.

I don't think my heart can take so much excitement.

(PS: If you are a fan of pop culture, anime, comic, manga, gaming or j-pop, you should be subscribed to ICv2's wonderful - and free - daily email blast, from whence this story came. Yes, I just blogged the word whence.)

OMG! SWOON!

My favorite director and my favorite actor making my favorite book (well, Through the Looking Glass is my favorite, but In Wonderland is a close second)

HOW AWESOME! You just made my day.

Burton and Depp ruined Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I am tired and bored of the Depp-Burton partnership. "Sweeney Todd" was okay but it didnt 'wow' me.

I'm not really too excited about them doing Alice. It's gonna be lame.

so many people know the story of alice, but not many have read the book.

READ THE BOOK, PEOPLE! it's still 1 million times better than all the Alice remakes combined together.

Well I'm totally stoked over this. I love Burton and Depp!

(I read the book too! Twice. I read it instead of dropping acid.)

Oh please tell me Danny Elfman is doing the music too and I can die happy! I think the Burton-Depp-Elfman trio always makes the best films. I don't have very strong feelings about Alice in Wonderland and I only think I've read extracts from it, but I love Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I loved how Burton-Depp-Elfman made something very different yet excellent out of it. Some people find the film "sugary", as if it was "accidentally" scary, but it's actually very sinister. Burton realises nothing is more scary than bright colours and dolls and candy and cheery music...
