Just revealed: Anne of Green Gables creator apparently took her own life.

On this, the 100th anniversary of the publication of one of the most beloved YA novels ever written, comes this fascinating - and sad - story about Lucy Maud Montgomery, her battle with depression and her eventual suicide in 1942. Her family kept the circumstances of her death a secret until this year. (Via Gwenda)

Thanks a lot for this link. Her books meant a lot to me as a kid (and of course today they mean even more, since nostalgia is awesome like that). It adds a bittersweet note to things, an honest one, to read this.

oh my god. I loved Anne of Green Gables, both the book and the 1985 movie. This is sad. I'm sharing the news with my sister, she was obsessed with the book/movie too...
