"Let the wild rumpus start!"

At eighty years of age, iconic children's book illustrator Maurice Sendak has finally come out of the closet. (The Wild Things were reported to be quite pleased.)

Oh man -- I was scared when I first saw your entry that you were gonna tell us Sendak had died. Whew. He's just gay. No biggie.

Just read our 3.5 year old "Where the Wild Things Are" last night. Love that book.

Awesome! My daughter loves his books. I was scared you were going to say he died as well, and for a minute I was like NOOOOOO

and then I read on and was like
Cooooool!

His popup book that he just released last year was amazing. The guy had a talent for scaring the shit out of children. but in a good way.

And I massively love his art. When I was a kid I tried to imitate it. Still do in the off change that I draw.

His art would be cool in an illustration of an adult fantasy book as well, giving it an olde steampunkery look...

I once had a signed copy of "Really Rosie". He had even hand drawn a illustration of Alligator holding a balloon. Sadly it was lost in a fire.

whoa... I didn't know that. It's nice to see a lot of older respected public figures coming out.
