"What do you think I voted for at Omaha Beach?"

Meet Philip Spooner, WWII vet, war hero, lifelong Republican, husband, father, straight white man and defender of gay marriage. I dare you not to cry.

Thanks, Colleen. Stirred up memories for me. My brother, a victim of AIDS in the late 80's, struggled with this for most of his cut-short life. Wish I could have watched it with him. I have a WIP that deals with this. Twenty years later and I can finally write about it.

I've been sending this around too. An important aspect of this most people don't realize is that the Nazis tried to exterminate homosexuals along with Jews. The upside-down pink triangle was the badge the Nazis used to identify male prisoners in concentration camps who were sent there because of their homosexuality.

I don't mean to be snarky about an important civil rights topic, but I think the subject of this post ought to be "What do you think I fought for at Omaha Beach?"

I don't think anyone had much time to vote on D-Day.
